Plastics account for 85% of marine litter and represent the largest, most harmful and most persistent proportion of ocean waste, with disastrous impacts on the environment and marine species.
The amount of plastic waste floating in our oceans corresponds to a surface area of 1.6 million km², i.e. 3 times the size of France.
80% of the plastics that make up this pollution come from waste dumped into rivers emptying into the ocean. These are known as Ocean Bound Plastics (OBP) and this is why Help Protect The Ocean® is committed to collecting them before they reach the oceans, for more effective preventive action.
Help Protect The Ocean® uses a cross-functional approach that creates a process for cleaning up and reusing Ocean Bound Plastic, from shores and riverbanks to consumers, to provide an effective, measurable response to marine pollution.
Help Protect The Ocean® allows everyone to take concrete action at their own level in a “chain” in which every link is essential!
Every kilogram of OBP used in the manufacture of Help Protect The Ocean® corks is one kilogram more of OBP collected!
Every kilogram of OBP used in the manufacture of Help Protect The Ocean® corks is one kilogram more of OBP collected!
The mobilization of all stakeholders (the NGO Zero Plastic Oceans, Vinventions, TUTIAC, ISCC, etc.) has led to the creation of the 1st cork made from plastics collected before they pollute the oceans (OBP).
Today, the cork is made from 69% OBP and we are working to increase this content further. This represents 8 g per cork, or the equivalent of one plastic bag recycled for each cork produced. Of course, the corks are 100% recyclable.
OBP collection is carried out by associations and companies coordinated by the non-governmental organization Zero Plastic Oceans and is ISCC Plus certified, guaranteeing that the entire process complies with rigorous social, environmental and traceability criteria.

Manufacture of the cork by Vinventions using recycled OBP.
Result: a cork containing the equivalent of a plastic bag!
All products carrying the label are committed to 100% eco-designed packaging, using Help Protect The Ocean® corks and recycled or lightweight materials with as neutral an impact on the environment as possible, banning plastic components.
TUTIAC is the first producer to join the Help Protect The Ocean® initiative.
A French winegrowing cooperative which has been producing Bordeaux wines for 50 years, the group is recognized for its commitment to the environment throughout its vineyards. Today, TUTIAC has made a clear commitment to eco-design by integrating our approach.
To date, 200,000 TUTIAC bottles have been fitted with the Help Protect The Ocean® cork, which has helped to collect and recycle almost 2 tonnes of OBP!
Every action matters.
By choosing a bottle bearing the Help Protect The Ocean® label, you’re taking direct action to help preserve our oceans.

We can all make a difference by rethinking the way we consume!
A small action for mankind, a huge benefit for the oceans.

Regulation 2016/679 of 27 April 2016 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and commonly known as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into force on 25 May 2018. The RGPD, supplemented by the new Law no. 78-17 of 6 January 1978 on information technology, files and freedoms, in its consolidated version of 14 June 2018, imposes the conditions under which personal data may be processed.
